DARC Arts presents its first-ever Post-Truth Troll-A-Thon as part of an Internet-based response to the United States Electoral College vote, which is set to take place on Monday, December 19, 2016.
In particular, participants will be invited to creatively interact with United States electors, President-elect Donald Trump, Trump Administration cabinet members, elected representatives in positions of power, and everyday conservatives. Interested community members are invited to join and participate by creating a troll handle and posting using the hashtags #PostTruthTroll and #DARCarts
The public is invited to join the DARC Arts community in person at Adobe Books & Arts Cooperative (3130 24th Street) on December 18th from 12-4 pm, and December 19th from 5-8pm. There, all participants will create their “troll” handle on Twitter or another platform of their choice, strategize with others about the best use of their trolling skills, post content online designed to provoke and engage in light of the recent election, and provide support for others undertaking emotional labor as part of the Troll-A-Thon.
The Troll-A-Thon aims to explore radical online engagement in what is increasingly being called a “post-truth” era. While trolling methods are most often used to intimidate, shame, and silence dissenters, the Post-Truth Troll-A-Thon hopes to deploy the power of trolling in the service of empathy and humor.
