Mildred K Barya teaches creative writing and literature at UNC-Asheville and is a board member of African Writers Trust (AWT). Her publications include three poetry collections: Give Me Room to Move My Feet, 2009, The Price of Memory after the Tsunami, 2006, and Men Love Chocolates But They Don't Say, 2002. She also has short stories and poems in anthologies, journals and magazines such as Tin House, Prairie Schooner, Poetry Quarterly, Per Contra and Northeast Review. She holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Denver and maintains a blog on literary matters.
