UNDERBUG

AN OBSESSIVE TALE OF TERMITES AND TECHNOLOGY

Lisa Margonelli will read from her new book UNDERBUG: An Obsessive Tale of Termites and Technology with improvised musical accompaniment by Tom Djll.

Margonelli is the author of the bestseller, Oil On The Brain: Petroleum’s Long, Strange Trip to Your Tank. And is currently the deputy editor at  Zocalo Public Square. She spent the last 10 years working on UNDERBUG, a journey which took her around the world. Following these tiny creatures, her tale tackles some giant issues – like the nature of animal (and human) society, and the definition of consciousness.

“Tom Djll has been making thoughtful, elegant music for nearly 30 years and has taken the trumpet as far beyond its silver, snarling vernacular as it is possible to go, and as far from the extended technique proponents as Bill Dixon is from Roy Castle. ” – The Wire
